Dutch Vanilla? yes, Dutch Vanilla. Grown in the middle of the Dutch greenhouse horticulture area , the municipality of Westland .

The Planifolia Black is rich in marrow and vanillin. A full, intense and enchanting romance between flowers and spices with specific notes of leather, nuts, earthy and wood.

Many chefs and pastry chefs prefer to use vanilla because of the perfect taste. A taste that combines well with many other ingredients.

Vanilla (Tlilxochitl) is native to Mexico. In ancient Mexico, the Totonac, in the region now known as Veracruz, were considered producers of the finest vanilla. The Mayas and Aztecs had developed a drink of the gods made of chocolate and vanilla. The Spaniards were so crazy about this that via Hernán Cortés (conquistadors) he brought vanilla and chocolate back to Spain and introduced it to Europe. With its introduction to Europe, the Dutch planted vanilla in their colonies on Java, the French on La Réunion, which was then called Île Bourbon and gave its name to Bourbon vanilla. They discovered how the flowers could be pollinated artificially, by hand, and could therefore also be obtained outside of Mexico.

Rob Baan: "Outside vanilla crops, such as Madagascar, are more likely to be damaged by bad weather conditions such as typhoons. Theft is also a problem: the pods are regularly stolen due to the high value. The pods are picked immature for these reasons, resulting in in the thin dried sticks that you buy in the supermarket. We wanted to do this better, so we started producing vanilla in Dutch greenhouses. Only in this way can you imitate the ideal growing climate year-round without risky natural conditions and without pesticides or other chemical agents. The result? Four to five thousand square meters of beautiful, rich and fat vanilla pods of the highest quality."

Planifolia Black Vanille is harvested once a year and is available all year round due to the storage period, while stocks last. Store at room temperature in a dark place. Produced in a socially responsible way, Koppert Cress Planifolia Vanilla meets the hygienic standards in the kitchen. The pods are grown clean and hygienic.
